The Administration and Support Branch manages six program areas: Financial Services; Grants and Local Aid; Fire Data and Statistics; Marketing and Communications; Policy, Planning and Legislation; and Procurement. This branch, in conjunction with the Department of Human Resource Management, also handles all personnel and employee relations issues as they pertain to human resource management.
FINANCIAL SERVICES
Financial Services includes pre-auditing, processing, reporting, and analysis services for Accounts Payable – General (vendor payments), Accounts Payable – Employee (payroll, travel reimbursement, moving and relocation), Accounts Payable – Special (Small Purchase Charge Card statement processing), Accounts Receivables (cash receipting and depositing, receivables collections, receivables aging, and reconciliations), and Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Financial Reconciliations, Analysis, and Reporting. Additional services provided by Financial Services include Agency budget development, management, analysis, and reporting. Financial Services will be expanding its services in the coming months to include controls and risk analysis internal audits to ensure compliance with Agency Risk Management and Internal Controls Standards (ARMICS).
Bookstore Operations includes the receiving and fulfilling of merchandise orders (invoice generation/modification), order handling and shipping, and special orders.Call for additional information.
Grants and Local Aid manages all the financial assistance programs in the agency. Programs include Aid to Localities Entitlement Program; Burn Building Grants; Technology Grants; Virginia Fire Service Board Mini Grants, Conference and Education Assistance; Be Safe Fire Grants; Emergency Fund Grants; Get Alarmed Virginia; Home Safe home, Virginia!; and Virginia Dry Hydrant Grants.
MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS
Marketing and Communications which manages the marketing efforts for VDFP; develops brochures and other printed materials; maintains the agency web site, develops press releases; coordinates events; maintains media affairs; coordinates, develops and implements statewide public fire and life safety education programs.
POLICY, PLANNING AND LEGISLATION
Policy, Planning and Legislation tracks legislation pertinent to the fire and emergency services community; acts as legislative liaison between the Fire and EMS community ; provides legislative summaries as well as legislative tracking during General Assembly; develops and implements policies; provides data collection, analysis, and information reporting.
PROCUREMENT
Procurement - The Virginia Department of Fire Programs Central Office, purchases goods and services required to support the functions of the Agency staff and coordinates all cooperative procurement actions between its division offices. This includes the establishment of term contracts, and cooperative procurement actions.
FIRE DATA AND STATISTICS
Fire Data and Statistics manages the technological infrastructure of computer network, agency databases,and Virginia Fire Incident Reporting System (VFIRS)
