Tom Moffett began work in 1978 with the City of Harrisonburg Fire Department after a 3 year period as a volunteer for that department. His current assignment is one of three Battalion Chiefs for the Department.

Battalion Chief Moffett has served as an Adjunct Instructor for the Department of Fire Programs, Department of Emergency Management, and the local community college. He continues to do extensive teaching across the country as a Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Instructor for the International Association of Fire Fighters.

Battalion Chief Moffett is the President of the Harrisonburg Professional Fire Fighters Association, Local 3221, and has been a member since 1990.
He holds an Associate in Arts and Science Degree – General Studies from Blue Ridge Community College.

Mr. and Mrs. Moffett are raising two high school aged children in the same community where they both grew up and now work.
