The Chief of Training and Operations is responsible for the supervision, leadership, and guidance of the agencies Training and Operations staff located throughout the Commonwealth. The Virginia Department of Fire Programs has seven division offices strategically located throughout the Commonwealth to support the training needs of Virginia’s Fire Service. These divisions manage, develop, and deliver a wide variety of training programs that meet the needs located throughout those divisions.
Tim joined the fire service as a volunteer in 1990 and started his full time career in the fire service in 1995. Tim worked in local government ascending through the ranks to hold positions such as Firefighter/Paramedic, Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Fire Marshal, and Shift Commander prior to joining the agency in 2012. Tim originally came to the agency to serve as the Division Chief of Technical Rescue, a position that he held until his promotion to Chief of Training and Operations in August 2015.
Tim received an Associate’s Degree in Fire Service Administration from J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College, a Bachelors of Science in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University, and a Master’s in Public Administration through American Public University.
